Re: Welcome prikolchik!!
Wow, thanks for such a warm welcome! I got a bit lost seeing a welcome thread with my name, :D
Anyway, I'm 21 years old, currently enrolled in 2nd year Computer Science in Dalhousie. I got interested in keeping tropical fish quite some time ago, but only recently got around to setting up my own.
Dislike: everything unnatural so you'll never see fake plants and/or pink/babyblue gravel, etc, in my set-ups.
Like: java moss, star grass, neon tetra, shrimps (not in a gastronomical sense  ), being cheap and sticking with DYI
I've been moving the tanks around, so none of them are properly set up yet. Here is what I currently have:
10gal:
7 cherry shrimps
20gal:
12 White clouds
This aquarium has a hairline and some other similar type of algae infection that I got from one of the plants from Pets Unlimited and I have yet to deal with it...
25gal:
Has some plants just thrown there. Have yet to set it up
55gal:
My main community tank. I have all kinds of fish there, some of it is mine and some were given to me bundled with the aquariums.
15 x Tiger barb
6 x Clown loach (anyone want to trade?)
1 x (Green?) cory
3 x Red-Eye Tetra
1 x Rummy nose tetra
1 x Chinese algae eater
3 x Spotted raphael catfish
1 x Striped raphael catfish (large)
1 x Bristlenose pleco
1 x Spotted sailfin pleco
2 x (misc) plecosomus
2 x Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami
4 x Mollies
3 x Flying fox (large)
It is currently running with 2x200W heaters, Fluval 303 filter and yeast CO2 injection.
You can see some photos here:

80gal:
Empty at the moment. Setting it up as we speak. This is going to be a Neon tetra tank with beautiful aquascape. Finally something I'm setting up in no hurry
https://2img.net/h/oi49.tinypic.com/308v194.jpg
48" 4x35W T12 lights (from Kent paid $66 for everything)
3 x 40lb decorative river gravel (from Kent $12ea bag)
Fluval 404 filter with custom spraybar.
Going to build a wet/dry sump soon

Re: Welcome prikolchik!!
Roughly 4-5 inches. I might have more than 6 though. Can't count them as they sense whenever I'm around and hide behind the rock/dirftwood.PaigeH wrote:How big are your loaches?

Re: Welcome prikolchik!!
Wow, you have quite the collection of tanks.... I feel plant envy!
Your tanks are looking pretty awesome, I love the aquascape. If you have a small amazon sword I'll trade you it for my massive one that it outgrowing my 30 gallon tank!
For the hair algae have you tried a couple SAEs? They do wonders on that stuff.

Sure, I have 2 swords, but they might not be smaller than yours. Could you send a photo? I'm located in Clayton Park by the way.Kribby wrote:Wow, you have quite the collection of tanks.... I feel plant envy!

I've looked up what SAE was and apparently those 3 Flying Foxes I have are no foxes, but true Siamese Algae Eaters! They don't seem to go for algae though, but go NUTS for frozen bloodworms and spirulina tablets. I suppose that in order to get them to eat algae I've got to stop feeding them with worms/tablets, right? I did try moving them to algae tank a few weeks back but they seemed to do everything other than eating algae!
On a side note, my molly just gave birth to 8 fry.

Re: Welcome prikolchik!!
Hey I might be interested in your clown loaches. Any pictures?
I have some longfin albino bristlenose plecos to trade if interested.
Let me know.

Re: Welcome prikolchik!!
Oh and yeah, my son is also enrolled in Computer Science @ Dal. He's on his first year though.
Re: Welcome prikolchik!!
I've tried really hard to capture them but it is not humanly possible. This is the best shot I could get before they swam away:fish'nfry wrote:Hey I might be interested in your clown loaches. Any pictures?

I'm not interested in the plecos as I think I have too many of them already. I'd like some kind of relatively small schooling fish. Like Neon Tetra, Red Eye Tetra, rummy nose tetra, Harlequin (Rasbora heteromorpha) and others. Preferably something that doesn't feed on cherry shrimps :D
