Re: Welcome supagirl!!!
Hello all and THANKS! I have always loved fish, and get so relaxed just watching them, and planning new homes for them.
I have never had a "serious" aquarium - just the 5 or 10 gallon ones and bowls. I am trying to change that now, and I figure after dreaming about them for 15 years, I finally owe it to myself to get one!
I am starting off with a 6 gallon fluval I am getting from one of our members tomorrow, and will get a larger one when I find just the right one.
I am entranced by salt water set ups, but figure I'll ease into it with fresh water fish until I learn more, as I hear it can be very tricky and quite a science to do a salt water set up.
Right now, at home, I have 3 common goldfish (who actually have quite a lot of personality) and of course, my snail infestation in a separate bowl.
:lol!:
I am planning to get into some small tetras and frogs to start, in the fluval edge, and then go from there once I have researched a little more and set up a larger tank.
I am also interested in starting terrariums - the wet/dry kind so I can have some fish and some kind of land critter together in the same set up.
When I am not being fishy, I am a graphic designer for Bell Aliant. I spend my time either trying to figure out how to visually sell you guys tv, phone and internet, or I sit around trying to dream up cool fish homes.
OK, there is a LITTLE more to my life than that, but you get the idea!
:D
Hope to get to know all of you better.

Welcome aboard :) Is your snail infestation deliberate or would you prefer to keep something that might eat them ? :)

Hi Manyfishmurphy
I would love to get rid of them in a humane way, but it seems like the only way is to have them assassinated!
What likes to eat them? I think so far I learned on here about bettas... I know goldfish are supposed to eat their egg clutches (although mine never did..)

Re: Welcome supagirl!!!
Loaches love snails especially the clown loaches. They will "Thank You" for the snails. :D
Re: Welcome supagirl!!!
The yo yo loach does quite a number on them. Oh and welcome to TACONS
